Summer Resource Technician 2024

Positions: 3 Full-time seasonal

Location: SRRWD Steinbach office

Period of Employment: May 01 – August 31, 2024 (with potential for extension to end of December)

Hours per week: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (35 hrs/wk)

Wage: $18.00 to $21.00/hr, depending on qualifications

Deadline: March 1, 2024

Responsibilities/Duties

Assist with the implementation of summer programming and projects for the current season
Collect land elevations using precision GPS equipment in a competent and reliable manner
Collecting surface water samples on waterways within the District
Administering water infiltration tests at project locations
Support the Project Supervisor and other staff with project preparation, management and events
Assist with light maintenance of office, lawn and garden
Assist with facilities maintenance at the Tourond Creek Discovery Centre and other projects

Qualifications/Skills

Completed at least one year of relevant post-secondary education
Environment/Agriculture/Social Science/Science/Engineering background is an asset
Enjoy working outdoors
Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle
Excellent interpersonal skills, approachable, resourceful, self-motivated, able to work independently and communicate clearly
Knowledge of Excel, map reading and GPS an asset
Background knowledge of the SRRWD program an asset
Knowledge of multiple languages considered an asset
